Sage – Mushkodaywushk

Sage is one of the four sacred medicines and is associated with the western direction.

There are many types of sage. Sage is commonly used for smudging. Smudging with sage is done to cleanse and purify sacred items, places, and people. Smudging is also done before ceremonies and gatherings. Sage offers medicinal uses as well.

Sage translates to mushkodaywushk in Ojibwe.

SIMs Tour

From grade students to adults, the simulators have been a huge hit! The heavy equipment simulators are a fun way to test abilities on operating heavy equipment. We love seeing students get excited about careers in the trades and introducing them to all the opportunities available. For job seekers, they have had the opportunity to be screened and recommended for training.

Operation Innovation Update

We have made significant progress this year with the Operation Innovation 2.0 project! We’ve celebrated 15 new graduates who have completed Heavy Equipment Operator training.

We also opened opportunity for a new career path – Smart Meter Installers! Although a new addition, one individual has already been hired and three more have been recommended to join the team at Honeywell.

Career Fairs

Our team has attended a handful of career fairs, introducing job seekers and students to the variety of careers available in the trades through ImmersiveLink Careers. Engaging with new organizations and communities has been instrumental in building connections outside our local groups.

Wake the Warrior (2-week Pre-Employment Program)

A work readiness 2-week boot camp that includes all our Wake the Warrior programming that we typically deliver over 3 separate weeks.  We focus on building self-awareness, creating positive views of self, and balancing our life using the medicine wheel.  We then dive into exploring happiness and retention in career, work ethics and required soft skills like conflict resolution, communication, and personal management using our sacred teachings as a compass. Then,  to wrap everything up, we end the program with lessons on budgeting, meal planning, and self-care!

Production Updates

New VR Content

We’ve developed and deployed new VR content, including a VR experience for electric meter installers, a basic carpentry training module, and another piece of content currently completing its production phase. This last project focuses on recreating scenarios that security guards encounter in their daily work.

LMS Improvements

Complementing the work of our in-person delivery, the IL team has been instrumental in supporting the build of online e-learning courses for internal offerings and client projects. To enhance the courses, the IL team has been developing custom animations and interactive activities that engage learners and improve retention.

Upgrades to ImmersiveLink App

Our most significant milestone has been upgrading our application from version 2 to version 3. This upgrade includes supporting all our current content and to extended development efforts aligned with the new infrastructure changes and, most importantly, delivers new and improved features for our clients. The update provides a workflow up to 3 times faster and enables the management of our VR modules alongside the previously supported 360 modules from version 2.

Maamooshkawin Event & IL7 Launch

Our Maamooshkawin event was a great success!

Chi’Miigwech to everyone who joined us in honouring the Elders and Knowledge Keepers that have contributed to and supported ORIGIN’s mission. Their wisdom and teachings are the foundation of ImmersiveLink Cultural. It was such a special day to be able to celebrate their contributions alongside our community. We are grateful to be able to share this special moment with you all!
